Discovery Field Trip Components
The Discovery Field Trip brings preschool through kindergarten-aged children to a local farm for a hands-on agricultural experience that gives them the opportunity to learn about where their food comes from. Kids meet the farmers and explore the natural world of the farm and its environment and students gain larger appreciation and understanding of their local food system and community.
- Discovery Field Trip Coordinator to perform logistical coordination between the teacher and the farmer.
- Seasonal field trip to an El Dorado County farm, including a walk/talk with a farmer, and a minimum of two on-site hands-on educational stations
- Seasonal Tastings in the form of produce and produce-based product
- Access to and consulting on additional resources and lesson plans to continue farm lessons back in the classroom
For the 2016-2017 school year, the cost of the Discovery Field Trip is $275 per classroom. This includes a total of 25 persons; students, teachers, and chaperons. Please consult program coordinator for additional guest cost. Payment terms and conditions found in the Frequently Asked Questions.
