Ag in the Classroom of El Dorado County is excited to introduce a unique professional development opportunity for teachers! Teacher Agriculture Workshops provides educators with an opportunity to gain knowledge about local farms, orchards and vineyards and how they produce agriculture crops in the foothill region as well as environmental and economic impacts through hands on, in the field experience.
Our workshops combine classroom instruction with first-hand experience through exclusive behind the scenes access and site tours on local agricultural operations. Ag in the Classroom provides each teacher with agriculturally themed lessons and resources to use in the classroom.
Registration fee is $20 per workshop (includes continental breakfast, lunch, and transportation to site tours). Ag in the Classroom welcomes teachers, garden coordinators, and garden parents from all mother lode counties and will reimburse the cost of substitute teacher’s pay for each qualifying El Dorado County teacher. Funding for this program’s expansion has been provided through a Specialty Crop Block Grant awarded by the California Department of Food and Agriculture to El Dorado County Ag in the Classroom expand its specialty crop agricultural education and outreach programs in the foothill region.
